Kodak ESP5: ink jet printer

The Kodak ESP5 printer has the same simple black design as the ESP3, its cheaper cousin that lacks the LCD screen. The perforated scanner cover adds an elegant touch to the printer. This ink jet printer measures 6.9 inches tall by 16.6 inches wide by 11.8 inches deep. The majority of the printer is made of a light plastic that gives the device a flimsy and delicate feel. A thin plastic arm pops up and braces the cover, similar to the hood of a car. The printer industry has slowly started to steer more toward photo printers with five individual color ink cartridges for less waste, but the ESP5 still retains the standard-size ink cartridge bay: one for black and one for five different colors. The Kodak website reports 10 cents per color photo, a relatively decent price for the average inkjet printer. …continue reading Kodak ESP5: ink jet printer

Cheap MP560 has the familiar glossy black and matte silver finish and sits at just 18 inches wide, 14.5 inches deep, and 6 inches tall. The heads-up display is perhaps the most stylish and innovative facet on the printer. Dell All-in-One Wireless Printer V305w – multifunction ink jet printer and its ink cartridges review

The Dell V305W is an inexpensive all-in-one multifunction printer with wireless capability. With $129 price tag, it has triple functions, a 1,200×2,400 dpi scanner and full range copier and a inkjet printer. Dell manages to keep the cost of the V305W low by omitting an autodocument feeder and fax machine (scan to e-mail, anyone?), but the printer eats up ink and replacement ink cartridges are very expensive. In addition to the high cost of consumables, the V305W can’t keep up with the competition in print speed or quality.

The V305 uses two separate cartridges for tricolor and black/white inks, and it ships with standard-capacity cartridges in the box. Alternatively, Dell also sells high-capacity ink cartridges , but the cost per page is astronomical for both the “standard” and “high yield” options. According to Dell, the $25 high-capacity color ink cartridge will only print 230 pages, so the cost to print a single page of color is 9.2 cents. …continue reading Dell All-in-One Wireless Printer V305w – multifunction ink jet printer and its ink cartridges review

HP Officejet J4680 ink jet printer and it ink cartridges

The $130 HP Officejet J4680 is an all-in-one, which means it can also fax, copy, and scan in addition to print beautifully rendered documents and pictures. As a sub-$150 printers, it has many surprising features such as : 802.11g Wi-Fi connectivity, convert-to-text, and a 20-sheet auto document feeder. Unfortunately, the printer suffers from painfully slow print speeds across all documents including simple black text and photos, in addition to mechanical hiccups that limit its efficiency. If you can somehow get past these limitations, you’ll be satisfied with the J4680′s features and output quality. …continue reading HP Officejet J4680 ink jet printer and it ink cartridges

Canon Pixma iP4500 inkjet printer and its ink cartridges review

The Canon Pixma iP4500 is a moderately expensive single-function printer designed for general home use. Unlike Canon’s more photo-oriented single functions like the Pixma iP6700d, the $130 iP4500 lacks memory card slots and a preview LCD. The iP4500 offers faster print speed, slightly better print quality, and more features, including an auto duplexer. If your printing needs are minimal, however, we think you should save your money and stick to a less expensive model like the $80 iP3500, but if you print enough to justify the price, the iP4500 is a great option for general printing.

The Pixma iP4500 is a bit on the expensive side for a general-purpose, single-function printer, so we had limited models on hand for comparison. It stood up well to the competition overall. It printed black text at a rate of 8.25 pages per minute, slower than the office-oriented HP Officejet Pro K5400, but faster than the home-oriented HP Deskjet 6940. It was much slower with graphics, scoring just 2.47ppm, a far cry from the HP Pro K5400′s 6.21ppm. But the Canon excelled at fast 4×6 photo prints, clocking 2.66ppm, over a full page faster than the Pro K5400 and more than five times faster than the Deskjet 6940. The iP4500 was also faster than the less expensive iP3500 at all print tasks. …continue reading Canon Pixma iP4500 inkjet printer and its ink cartridges review

Brother MFC-490CW all-in-one Review and its ink cartridges Review

At $130 retail, Brother MFC-490CW all-in-one is actually a good improvement over its previous pricier model. Higher-quality prints, a 3.3-inch wide-screen LCD for light photo editing and scrolling through menus, and a low cost to print put it in the same class as the Canon Pixma MX330 or the HP Officejet J4680, even though the Brother’s print speeds still can’t keep up with the competition. If you’re hungry for extra features like Wi-Fi and convert-to-text, check out the MFC-5890CN. …continue reading Brother MFC-490CW all-in-one Review and its ink cartridges Review
